Hermosa Sanitation District cares about web accessibility and wants every user to be able to use our website with ease. See our accessibility statement below.
This website, www.hermosasanitation.com, is owned and operated by Hermosa Sanitation. Hermosa Sanitation is dedicated to being accessible to all web users and follows the standards laid out in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) international standard, specifically WCAG 2.2. Compliance with these standards is checked with tools such as Google's Lighthouse, the WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tools, and by manual inspection . Because Hermosa Sanitation wants to demonstrate its commitment accessible content for all, we have laid out the steps we've taken over time to ensure accessible web pages for all. This list was last revised on January 30th, 2025. If you find any of our content inaccessible, please contact us to let us know about any accessibility issues and we will correct the issue immediately.
Accessibility HistoryJuly 2021 - Starting at this date as it was the date that our current website version was produced. All pages were checked with lighthouse for a 95+ score on accessibility upon launch.
June 2022 - Website crawl through using WAVE tool correcting several errors not detected by Lighthouse on the first run
March 2024 - Upon request of the site owner performed an audit using WebAIM's WAVE tool in addition to performing a manual test using a screen reader.
January 2025 - Further evaluation after a report from checkmydistrict.org found contrast errors and lack of a main landmark. While main landmarks are not mentioned in WCAG2.2, we did add them for each page, although a subsequent check with checkmydistrict.org still incorrectly showed that the pages had no main landmarks. While our contrast ratios were already in acceptable range, we further increased contrast ratio to Level AAA compliance, which requires a contrast ratio of at least 7:1 for normal text. Our link colors are now at a ratio of 7.3:1.
